Expiration dates What do you think is going to happen to you if you consume something past an 'expiration' or 'sell by' date??? You constantly put crap and chemicals in your body, yet you're afraid to go a day past an expiration date on a product filled with chemicals to prolong that products' shelf life????? One word - WASTE!!! This country makes me sick with the waste going on. It also amazes me that people have so much MONEY to throw away .... There is no need for your enormous, disgusting waste! Have you ever heard of anyone DYING from expired medication and/or food... much less any major illness? Nooooooooo! (this is about expiration dates ONLY, not your carelessness with food or eating it) You're so afraid of death and illness that you waste perfectly good food, yet STILL CONSUME CRAP! THAT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! = ~NoRespect~ PHARMACEUTICALS: . . . Over the counter AND Prescription Just a few words about meds --- I'm not a pharmaceutical professional, HOWEVER ............... Do you think your meds are manufactured, then shipped to you within 24 hours? NOOOOOOOO! They are made, they lounge around, they get shipped, they lounge around, they get shipped again, they lounge around AGAIN, they are packaged with YOUR name on it, THEN the expiration date is put on YOUR bottle. FOR the MANUFACTURERS' PROTECTION, NOT YOURS! These dates are typically one year from the date on the stock bottle. But they don't have the days, months, years and decades to test the expiry dates for us. They put these CHEMICALS through a sort of "stress test" with short term exposure to heat, light, etc to "estimate how quickly a drug will deteriorate" ---- it won't kill you!!!! Mostly, expiration dates have to do with potency. AND, wait for it .... IT'S THE LAW ... for legal and liability reasons. Some pharmaceuticals can last up to 184 months, but no one will tell you that!! Of course, use your common sense and watch for liquid meds that are discolored or cloudy. (Some antibiotics lose their potency, but most of you, I'm sure, OVER use antibiotics to where you and/or your children have an antibiotic resistance anyways) **If a medication is for a chronic and/or life-threatening disease, (a heart condition, seizure, or life-threatening allergy), or if it requires refrigeration, it is probably wise to get a new prescription once expired EXPIRED FOOD: 9 out of 10 Americans waste food due to the public's (YOUR) personal turmoil over expiration dates -- millions of pounds of food!!!! That's more than 90% of people in the U.S! Foods are on a "voluntary" labeling system, except for some baby foods and formula. Expiration dates are the manufacturer's suggestion for WHEN THE FOOD IS AT ITS FRESHEST, NOT when it is unsafe. That means the food does not expire in the sense of becoming inedible. These dates have NOTHING to do with your future food poisoning or foodborne illnesses. Preservatives, people!!!! You are putting them inside your body! If it smells bad - use your common sense - DON'T CONSUME IT. Otherwise, consume consume consume. Let's admit, there are so many preservatives in the foods you eat, that by now, YOU are preserved!! Some expert advice: Milk - Usually fine until a week AFTER the "Sell By" date Eggs - Good for 3-5 weeks after you bring them home - or do the float test Poultry and seafood - Cook or freeze within a day or two Beef and pork - Cook or freeze within three to five days Canned goods - Highly acidic foods like tomato sauce, 18 months or more. Low-acid foods like canned green beans are probably risk-free for up to five years. Obviously, cans bulging should be discarded, no matter what the expiration date! Once a perishable product is frozen, it doesn't matter if the date expires because foods kept frozen continuously are safe indefinitely REMEMBER: Expiration dates have NEVER been about public health. Those little numbers are all about quality NOT SAFETY! "Even if the food is consumed after its ideal quality date, it's not harmful" ^^^ a link for you non-believers ^^^ #MissInformation
